Where to buy used tires in Milwaukee

A good used tire is often the sensible answer — especially if the rest of your set still has life in it. Here's what used tires actually cost in Milwaukee, how to tell a decent one from a bad one, and when we'd tell you to buy new instead.

What a used tire costs

Ours start at $30 and go up from there depending on the size and how much tread is left. Bigger wheels and less common sizes cost more, simply because they're harder to come by.

Every used tire we sell comes with a 30-day warranty. That matters more than the price — a tire with no warranty behind it is a gamble, and plenty of places sell them that way.

How to tell a good used tire from a bad one

Tread depth is the obvious one, but it isn't the whole story. Uneven wear across the tread usually means the car it came off had an alignment problem, and that wear pattern doesn't fix itself once it's on your car.

Look at the sidewall too. Cracking, bulges, or any previous plug in the sidewall rules a tire out completely. We won't sell those, and you shouldn't buy them anywhere else either.

Age matters even when tread doesn't. Rubber hardens over time whether it's been driven on or not, so a tire that's been sitting for a decade isn't a bargain regardless of how it looks.

When we'd tell you to buy new instead

If you're replacing all four at once, the price gap between a decent used set and a budget new set is often smaller than people expect — and new gives you full tread life and a real manufacturer warranty.

On all-wheel-drive vehicles, matching matters more than usual. Mismatched tread depths across an AWD system can put real strain on the drivetrain, so we'll talk you through it rather than just selling you the cheapest option.

For one replacement on a car whose other tires are part-worn, a used tire matched to that wear is usually the better answer than a single brand-new one.
