What it costs

Our flat repairs start at $15. That covers taking the tire off, finding the leak, patching or plugging it from the inside, and refitting it balanced.

It's the fastest job in the shop. If we're not busy you'll be back on the road in about twenty minutes.

What can be repaired

Punctures in the tread — the flat part that meets the road — can almost always be fixed. A nail or a screw in the tread is the everyday case, and it's a straightforward repair.

A slow leak that isn't a puncture at all is also common. Sometimes it's a corroded wheel rim or a failing valve stem rather than the tire itself, which is a cheaper fix than most people expect.

What can't be repaired

Damage in the sidewall — the smooth part with the writing on it — cannot be repaired safely. There's no patch that holds there reliably, because the sidewall flexes constantly as you drive. Anyone who offers to plug a sidewall is doing you a disservice.

A tire that's been driven on while flat usually can't be saved either, even if the original puncture was repairable. Running on no air destroys the inner structure, and that damage isn't always visible from outside.

Very large punctures, or several close together, generally mean replacement. We'd rather tell you that than sell you a repair that fails on the highway.

Used tires start at $30 with a 30-day warranty, and new tires are available in all major brands, usually fitted the same day.

We'll show you what we found and let you decide. We're not going to tell you a repairable tire needs replacing.
